There is nothing better than an afternoon tea, and working as a Close up Magician in Hampshire I have visited so many hotels and venues over the years that I thought I would compile a list of the best afternoon teas in Hampshire.
The list is based in order of locality to me and mainly in the New Forest.
1. The Montagu Arms Hotel, Beaulieu
The Montagu Arms Hotel has been awarded one of the highest accolades from the UK Tea Guild – The Top City and Country Hotel Tea Award.
The traditional afternoon tea includes a selection of decadent, finely cut sandwiches which are complimented by our home-baked speciality cakes and scones. Add some New Forest Jam and clotted cream and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in our picturesque gardens.
Prices starting at £22 per person.
2. The Limewood, Lyndhurst
As the resident Magician for Christmas and New Years Eve for the last few years I am a regular at the Limewood, a 5 star hotel in the heart of the New Forest. Their afternoon teas are on another level.
Prices from £32 per person
3. Balmer Lawn Hotel, Brockenhurst
Balmer Lawn Hotel’s afternoon teas are renowned for their quality within the New Forest, this is a real treat not to be missed!
Afternoon Tea is served daily 14.30 – 17.30
4. Oakley Hall Hotel, Basingstoke
Served in their 2 AA Rosette Glasshouse Restaurant or on the garden terrace with stunning views over the back lawn. Afternoon tea is served seven days a week between 12pm and 5pm
Prices from £28 per person
5. Lainston House, Winchester
A truly indulgent afternoon tea served on a tiered cake stand with a glamorous sense of tradition and occasion. Enjoy an unforgettable afternoon spent in the tranquil ambiance of this delightful 17th Century country house.
Available all year round:
From 12pm to 5pm (Monday – Wednesday)
From 2pm to 5pm (Sunday)
£32.50 deposit per person required for all bookings to secure your table
You can upgrade to a sparkling afternoon tea on the day
6. New Park Manor, Hampshire
They’ve designed an ‘edible garden’ afternoon tea to celebrate Beatrix Potter’s wonderful stories and illustrations. Grown-ups and little ones will love touches like Mr McGregor’s stolen vegetables, Jemima Puddle-Duck’s mini eggs, and even a Peter Rabbit made using the gingerbread recipe from Potter’s own recipe book.
Prices from £25 per adult
