1. Years of Experience
I would consider the most important element when hiring a Magician is their level of experience. How many years have they been performing in a professional setting entertaining corporate guests.
When hiring a Magician for your corporate event, first ask or check how long they have been performing magic, you don’t want to hire a Magician who has literally just started performing and drop them in a room of 200 corporate guests, you want to be hiring a Magician who has done this sort of thing before, and a lot!
You want to know that you can trust that your Magician will be able to handle themselves with loud environments with some strong characters and they also need to be able to deliver on the Magic front as well.
2. Membership of a Magic Society
A second thing to consider is membership of a Magic Society. The gold standard in this area is to be a member of the Magic Circle. Membership of the Magic Circle in London can only be gained by the following process.
- First you have to be nominated to apply by two current members of the Magic Circle
- Secondly once your nomination has been accepted you are required to attend and interview
- Finally once you have passed the interview you have to perform a 15 minute routine in front of club members and three judges.
Once you have passed all these elements are are then awarded membership of the Magic Circle.
As you can see membership of this magic society does not come easy, so you can be assured if you are hiring a Magic Circle Magician that they do have a certain level of magic ability and also know other Magicians.
3. Customer Testimonials
Another thing to look for when booking a Magician for a corporate event is previous customer testimonials. If you are hiring a Magician who does not have any recent testimonials or Google reviews from previous clients then you need to look for another Magician. Anyone who is out performing regularly will not be short of a few glowing testimonials.

4. Video Showreel
This final element when hiring your Magician is to check if they have a current showreel. This will be a video of the performing at many different types of events, and after watching this you will get a much better idea of their personality, how guests react to their magic and primarily is this the kind of person you could see performing at your corporate event?
5. Personal Recommendations
One of the most sure fire ways to make sure you are hiring the right Magician is to ask friends or colleagues if they have hired a magician for any previous events and if they can recommend one.
You can’t beat a personal recommendation from someone who has already seen this Magician perform at a previous event.

Also, it is very important that any Magician you hire for a corporate event has Public Liability Insurance. This is normally a requirement for the venue, to ensure that if you cause any issues during your performance that you are covered.
