Astonishing is the new Magic, Illusion and Dance show created by TV stars Stephen Mulhern and Jonny Wilkes. Astonishing is exclusively available on board P&O Cruises Britannia, Ventura and Azura this summer and beyond.
As a Southampton Magician I was part of the on board meet and greet VIP Close up Magician team at the Premiere of the show on June 17th 2018
The show was launched to a celebrity cast and influential travel bloggers who were all greeted by a red carpet, fireworks and smoke filled bubbles.
Photo opportunities with Stephen & Jonny were offered to all the VIP guests who were then taken on board to a champagne reception.
I moved from the red carpet where I had been performing close up magic to the VIP guests and on board to the champagne reception.
All guests were then shown to the theatre to watch the show.
P&O have really taken cruise ship entertainment to another level with this show.
Astonishing blends incredible illusions alongside singing and dancing. There was a performance of Houdini’s Metamorphosis illusion which was performed amazingly fast.
For me the best part of the show was where the whole audience gets to take part in a trick. I will say no more!

Astonishing Afternoon Tea
After the show the guests were given afternoon tea. Now this was P&O and this is no ordinary afternoon tea!
Eric Lanlard’s Afternoon Tea no less. This is something that you can book, for an extra charge while you are cruising on the Britannia. There was an array of cakes and sandwiches and something definitely worth the extra cost for a really special afternoon tea, if you are on a cruise.
Sadly I did not get any of this as I was back to work entertaining the guests with more close up and table magic.
The event was star-studded with stars from ITV’s Coronation St, and someone who needs no introduction!!
Sadly the day had to end and we had to be off the ship by 4pm, but what a day!
I can honestly say that P&O Cruises have got something great here which will also be performed on Ventura and Azura. So if you are cruising with P&O this year on any of these ships you are in for a treat.
But I can tell you that no matter how many times you watch the Metamorphosis illusion you will not see how they do it – it’s fast!
