Sopley Mill is one of the most unique wedding venues in the south. Situated on the Hampshire / Dorset border, It is a beautiful 18th century watermill, surrounded on both sides by the Millstream of the river Avon.
The video below shows me (Roger Lapin – one of the premier Magicians in Dorset) performing at the wedding of Claire and Lee last summer at Sopley Mill. The close up magic was performed after the wedding breakfast and into the early evening. It was a beautiful day and everyone enjoyed time outside on the lawns overlooking the river Avon.

One of Rogers favourite tricks. Magic does not get any more pure than this. Two elastic bands melt through each other in the hands of your wedding guests. You can see by the look on his face that he is not sure what just happened.
Roger can perform his magic outside as well, pictured here he has caught some guests arriving for the evening celebrations.
Where is the red ball is a brilliant quick fire routine, based on the cups and balls where three cups and three balls are used, Roger uses one cup and one ball. All you have to do is tell him where the red ball is! Under the cup or in his pocket. A hilarious routine with a very surprising ending.
Phone in balloon an amazing effect where Roger takes a phone and puts it inside a balloon – to see this watch the video above.

I didn’t give myself long to plan the ‘greatest day of my life’, only 3 months, but thank-fully everything slotted into place including finding and being able to book Roger. We had him for the evening, which flowed really well, as he worked around the tables after dessert, and then carried on outside with the evening guests as the sun went down. Although I would like to point out that he did break a glass when he walked in…. wink wink! As you can see from the footage he’s a great character and clearly loves his ‘job’. Whilst I would like to take the credit for people referring to the day as the best wedding they have gone to, I put it all down to hiring the right people ….
